About Us
Who's Behind Elearning Platform
We're a small team of former course creators and instructional designers who got tired of watching people waste money on the wrong online course subscription. Somewhere between a friend asking "is Coursera actually worth it?" for the fifth time and reading yet another "top 10" article that was obviously just an affiliate-commission ranking, we decided to build the resource we kept wishing existed: one place where every platform is judged the same way, by people who've actually sat through the courses.
Our Testing Promise
Before a platform gets a published score on this site, someone on our team has created a real account, paid for or activated real access, and worked through enough course material across more than one subject to form a genuine opinion. We're not scraping app-store star ratings or summarizing a vendor's own marketing page — every number here traces back to hands-on time inside the actual product. The exact formula behind that number is public on our Methodology page, and we apply it the same way whether we're looking at a household name or a platform most readers have never heard of.
How a Platform Earns a Spot Here
We don't cover every online learning platform that exists — there are hundreds, and most aren't worth a reader's attention. We prioritize platforms with a course catalog substantial enough to matter, a track record long enough to judge, and a certificate or completion system worth evaluating in the first place. A brand-new platform with a handful of courses and no history gets left off until it has something real to test. If a platform we already cover slides in quality, we say so in an updated review rather than quietly leaving an old, flattering score in place.
Where We Draw the Line on Objectivity
Every builder-style comparison site claims independence, so we'd rather show it than just say it. Our Disclosure page lays out exactly how our revenue works and exactly why it can't touch a score — the short version is that testing happens first, commercial relationships get sorted out afterward, and the two never talk to each other. A platform declining to work with us commercially changes nothing about how thoroughly or how fairly we cover it.
The People Writing These Reviews
Every review is signed by an actual person, not a house byline. Each writer's profile links to a page describing their background — what they've taught, built, or studied before joining this project — because we think you should be able to check who's making a claim before you trust it. Browse the full roster on our Authors page.
What We Mean When We Say "Best"
We use the word "best" carefully. On our main rating page, it means the highest score under our published, weighted formula — nothing more mystical than that. But the highest-scoring platform overall isn't automatically right for your specific goal, which is why we also maintain topic-specific Best Online Courses shortlists that re-rank the same tested pool of platforms against a narrower question, like which one is genuinely best for a total beginner or for someone learning entirely for free.
Keeping This Current
Course catalogs, pricing tiers, and certificate programs shift more often than most readers assume, sometimes with no real announcement. We treat every score as provisional rather than permanent, and we revisit platforms on an ongoing basis rather than a fixed yearly cycle. Spot something that looks wrong or stale? Our Contact page is the fastest route to getting it fixed, and correction reports are usually the quickest thing on our list to verify.
